On-campus there are several restaurants located in different parts of the campus. In the North usually students eat at Kaimaru(N11), Pulbitmaru(N12), and Lotteria. In the west, we have Doshirak(W2 second floor) and Seomatgol(W2 first floor). Finally, in the east, we have Dongmatgol(E5) and Subway.
Yes. Subway and Pulbitmaru are your best friends on campus.
For Halal options, you can opt for Pulbitmaru. The meat they use for the meals is 100% halal.
Yes, there is the International Kitchen on Campus where you can cook your food. It consists of stoves, fridges, microwaves, and toasters. So all you need to buy is the cooking utensils and pots/pans. But you have to register for it during the kitchen registration which begins usually at the start of each semester (The announcement is made on the portal)
You must go to https://cais.kaist.ac.kr/notice.Then, you can proceed to the "Class Enrollment" tab on the left side of the screen to start registering for courses in the "Course Registration" tab specifically.
Check the upper right part of the screen and you will see the ‘English’ option. Just click it and the page will reload and be translated to English.
No, if you already registered for the course and want to register for another course with the same time slot, you will have to drop the course you registered for first. That is the only time you can register for the course.
Yes, you can. You can apply for courses through ‘Course Registration (exemptions)’ under the ‘Class Enrollment’ tab. It is also good to email the professor and let him/her know that you would like to take the course.
You should make sure to check KAIST’s academic calendar (https://www.kaist.ac.kr/en/html/edu/03100101.html) to know the course registration period. There are two periods to look out for. Two months before class starts, the first period of course registration will open. The next period will be an add and drop period which will happen the week before classes until the end of the first week of the semester.
Classes have a class capacity. When the amount of registrations exceeds the class capacity, students will have to undergo a lottery system, therefore giving you no assurance that you will get all the classes you applied for. That is why our recommendation is to apply for the maximum credits to make sure you get some of the classes you need.
There is no exact time of admission result announcement. On top of that, it could be different for different applicants. All of the results aren't necessarily released at the same time. However, all results will be available by 18:00 of the result announcement date.
You have to submit all transcripts from grades 10, 11 and 12.
You do not have to send any documents to KAIST. You can just send scanned copies to KAIST after the admission result is announced and then when you come to KAIST, you can bring those documents with you.
Although KAIST highly recommends having Math, it is not mandatory. You can still apply and if you are accepted, you can study any major you want.
Only the admissions team knows this info, but people predict it to be the Regular Fall track. You can always apply to both which is better than either of the options.
Regular Fall sees around 80 acceptances per year while Early Spring + Early Fall sees around 20 acceptances per year.
No, you don't need a bank account before coming here. You only need to make a bank account after coming to Korea.
